It is important to make sure that you are well aware of when you need to go ahead and call for help from a professional exterminator because of a mouse problem. After all, the sooner this type of infestation is taken care of, the sooner you will no longer have to worry about such little critters roaming around your house and crawling all over your counters in the kitchen. Here are some of the signs that you have an infestation of mice in your home:

You Have Found Little Droppings Of Waste

Mice tend to leave a lot of droppings along the paths that they take, such as along the baseboards or along the base of your kitchen cabinets. You might also find some of these droppings in your food cabinet, which means that they have been in there eating some of your food. This is not only gross to clean up, it can be a real health hazard for you and your loved ones.

Holes Are Developing In Various Things

Whether it is the package of noodles in the cabinet or your wool sweater you were storing in the back of your closet, you will need to take this as a sign that there are not only mice coming into your home but that they are there to stay. Of course, they are only there to stay until you have an exterminator kick them out. Until then, you might want to secure your important belongings in plastic totes with lids and refrain from leaving boxes and bags of food simply sitting out. Put them in your refrigerator or in plastic bins as well. This will prevent the mice from being able to smell those things as well and they are not as likely to be able to get through the thick plastic before they are scared away by movement in your house. Taking away their food source might even cause the mice to start looking elsewhere for a home.

Make sure that you are calling in the professionals as soon as you realize that this is not a problem that you will not be able to handle on your own. After all, it could take a few trips out to your home before the entire problem with mice will be resolved. The longer you wait to get the process started, the more the mice will breed and they multiply quickly.
